what I mean: in “star trek: the motion picture” v'ger is searching for “love”, which would logically mean that it’s searching for ALL kinds of love -brotherly love and platonic love and romantic love, etc. And when does v'ger firstly find what it’s looking for? When spock thinks about jim and calls him t'hy'la. And what does t'hy'la mean?? “Brother, friend and lover.” Which means that the infamous footnote weakly claiming that “spock only means brother and friend in this case” makes no sense in the narrative, because, as we said, v'ger is looking for every kind of love, and oh, coincidentally the term “t'hy'la” encompasses them all. And it also means that v'ger manages to locate the only other being in the universe who is seeking for the same thing it’s seeking, with the exception that spock has already found what he’s looking for. in JIM.
